Spiritual Gift of Administration in the Marketplace
The spiritual gift of administration is the special ability to spread the awareness of God’s glory by organizing resources and people to accomplish specific goals.
Where the spiritual gift of administration is lacking, there is frustration, overwhelm, chaos, and ineffectiveness in the workplace. If you have the spiritual gift of administration, you can create order out of chaos, resulting in a sense of peace for your customers, co-workers, supervisors, and everyone else in your sphere of influence in the marketplace. You bring a sense of stability and comfort to those you serve in business. Most organizations would be utterly ineffective without having people like you on their teams to implement the plans and achieve the goals of the organization.
Spiritual Gift Recognition Statements
- “I have organized ideas, resources, time, and people effectively.”
- “I enjoy figuring out what needs to get done to accomplish larger objectives.”
- “People have told me I am a good planner and organizer.”
Marketplace Impact
Michael Hyatt, the former CEO and Chairman of Thomas Nelson Publishers, uses his spiritual gift of administration to help people achieve more in their personal and professional lives through effectiveness, efficiency, and maintaining the right priorities. One of his readers described why he needs what Michael has to offer by saying,
I feel overwhelmed. No matter what I’m doing, I feel like I should be doing something else. When I’m traveling for work, I am missing my daughter’s soccer game. When I make the game, I can hardly resist the impulse to pull my phone out of my pocket and check my email. I constantly wonder if I’m missing something important at work.[i]
Using his spiritual gift of administration, Michael ministers to these types of people by helping them to identify what is most important and then formulating a plan of action to help them achieve their desired results. Michael said, “If you’re like me, that means making your relationship with God, your health, your marriage, relationships with your friends, your church, and your contribution to your community top priorities.”[ii] He helps people to create order out of chaos in their personal and professional lives.
Although his speaking and writing revolves around the theme of “Intentional Leadership,” his blog originally began with a sharp focus on the theme of productivity. His focus on effectiveness and efficiency is a hallmark of the spiritual gift of administration. Michael has a tremendous ability to help people get more of the right things done in their personal and professional lives.
When Michael Hyatt speaks, people listen. As of the time of this writing, his blog has more than 540,000 subscribers. As expressions of his spiritual gift of administration, Michael shares administrative advice such as “How to Shave 10 Hours off Your Workweek,” “How to Create a Life Plan,” and “How Evernote Can Make You a Better, Faster Blogger.”
