David Giuseppetti has used his spiritual gift of prophecy as an equipment technician in the oil industry for several decades. On at least one occasion, using his spiritual gift of prophecy saved a man’s life.
Back in 2013, David was maintaining equipment on an oil rig during a 28-day assignment in a remote part of Papua New Guinea. One day at work, he noticed that crew members were walking nearby and even under the automated pipe-handling equipment that was hoisting 10,000-pound pipes. David said, “God put a recurring uneasiness in my heart. And I understood that if I didn’t do anything about this, an accident was going to occur.”
David immediately alerted the drilling company’s safety coordinator about the hazardous situation, but no precautions were taken after the safety coordinator mentioned David’s concern at a leaders’ meeting.
Sensing that God had given to him a mandate to proclaim this warning until the necessary actions were taken, David then elevated the issue to the company’s top safety manager. The safety manager responded, “I’ll see what I can do.” In the end, nothing was done.
After 15 days of persistently warning the company’s leaders about the problem, David shared the warning with the rig manager, the highest authority on the oil rig. The rig manager agreed that the hazard presented a threat to the safety of the crew members. He immediately authorized David to block off the area with a chain and a few warning signs. After David took the necessary steps to designate the hazardous area, he left the rig and went to the company’s camp about five miles away.
When David returned the following day, the rig manager pointed at David and proclaimed, “Here he comes! Give him a round of applause!” All 300 crewmembers began to applaud. Next to the rig manager was standing David’s co-worker and close friend, a former rugby player for the New Zealand All Blacks. David’s friend explained that, on the night before, he was going to weld a piece of metal as he often did. He went to cross under the machine, but when he saw the chain and the warning signs, he immediately turned to take an alternate route. At that exact moment when he turned, one of the 10,000-pound pipes fell from the automated pipe-handler from 80 feet above and landed only two feet away from where David’s friend was walking. He told David that his life was saved because David had installed the chain and the warning signs.
As a result of speaking forth and acting on the prophetic message God had given to him, the life of David’s friend—a husband and father to two children—was saved.
